The Impact Of Art

When I saw this bedroom in the May issue of Veranda, I was immediately drawn to the artwork above the bed.  According to the magazine, this piece is by New York artist, Bernd Haussmann.  In an effort to learn more about the painting or possibly see it from another angle, I checked out the site of the featured designer,  Susan Lovell.  I was able to find the lake house bedroom from the Veranda feature, but the artwork in this image was so completely different it took me a minute to realize it was the same room!  This is such a great example of how dramatically art can impact the mood and style of a space.

    you are so right about that..art does impact the look of a room as does lighting for the shot..which is far better in the shot from veranda..have lovely day.xx meenal

    Yes good point. Art can totally make the room or even ruin a room for me. It also says so much about the person who lives in a home I think.

    whoa--HUGE difference. Also makes you realize that even professionally designed rooms get a boost from editors when they appear in magazines. It's like the dang models getting their skinny thighs airbrushed!

    You have such a good eye! You're so right! It totally changes the tone of the room. We just bought a new piece of art for our dining room-- I'll do a post on it soon--and it had such an impact I can hardly believe it. And now I just want to sit in there all day and look at it!!!

    Wow...you are right. One second one looks like a hotel room, but the first one feels chic and vibrant. Excellent example!

    You're right ON! I love the first one. Light and airy! I'm sure the lighting was a factor as well.

    Another thing about painting that I learned is that the frame that you use also make a huge difference. It can accentuate the artwork or drown it. Sometimes no frame actually is better.

    Susan Lovell is so talented, I love her work. She really is capable of so many styles, very talented and versatile. I love the first one, its cleaner more "now" and goes with the serene feeling of the room beautifully!

    Its almost like they changed it for the seasons. The plant on the table and hurricanes on the ground seem so summery - while the other picture seems more like late summer/ fall with the lighting. So true about the art work changing the room. I think I prefer the top one myself.
