Here in the northern suburbs of New York City, an area that both Martha Stewart and Ralph Lauren call home, it's hard not to be influenced by truly traditional American country style. When homes are designed as beautifully as this chic Northern Westchester restored antique, I'm ready to make like Gwyneth Paltrow, and start singing country's praises! How about you, are you a little bit country too?

Very intrigued with the kitchen, with the fireplace and mirror above...and the floors in the entry. Great style with a well lived in worn feeling. Janell
ReplyDeleteThere's country and then there's COUNTRY! I'd refer to this as more classic since I don't see any roosters or ducks sitting around. You can use a little for a more eclectic look or go full tilt modern country and have a beautiful and livable space. I kind of love it.
ReplyDeletei'm def not country - out of all estetics 'country' is NOT me .. but i appreciate it for others ..
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty photo's. A little country warmth can be a good thing!
ReplyDeleteLove all the painted trimwork in each of those spaces. Refreshing to see something other than white!
ReplyDeleteThe dining room needs "something" but the other spaces I'd be very happy with, especially those floors!
ReplyDeleteI love that the woodwork has been well-cared for, but updated with some paint. Beautiful images!
ReplyDeleteOh, you know I am a little bit country!! Country meets Stilettos! :)
ReplyDeleteLove these...and you definitely have THE coolest neighbors.
Happy to see your beautiful face pop up in comments!
xoxo
What I love most about these is the colour of all the trim and wood- so gorgeous. I'd kill for mouldings/detail like that.
ReplyDeleteI love the last photo...I can’t wait for the windows to be open! xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. Love the ease of country, and can never get enough vintage.
ReplyDeletethat wood floor in the foyer is stunning!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely am, the modern country at least. How could you not feel relaxed in a space like that. I also like a space to fit the surroundings so that area sounds perfect for that look.
ReplyDeleteI like every pic...for different reasons. It's funny how many people cringe at the word "country"....I think of it in the English way...."country home"....or rural, simple, beautiful.....k
ReplyDeleteLove that island unit its gorgeous, that dark wood is stunning
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous rooms - definitely elegant country :)
ReplyDeleteI am most definitely a little bit country - the high country version you're talking about that is. Love the stenciled floor in the last shot!!
ReplyDeleteI am not into country style but I know how to appreciate a lovely country home.:D

I live in the country but that's about it. I could easily decorate country if my rooms will be anything like these images.
ReplyDeleteLove the living room in the third photo, but I am definitely not a country girl.
ReplyDeleteLoving the soothing colors.
ReplyDeleteI love it...with the exception probably of the dining room. We grew up spending our summers on a lake in the NC mountains. Our neighbors included the CEO of Home Depot and a famous rocker. It was fun to see how my mom's decorating differed between our everyday home and the one they built on the lake. Antique pine floors, exposed beams, stone fireplaces, etc. I liked both....agree with someone above...there is country and then there is country....
ReplyDeleteWhat a great escape from the city. Very serene and lovely.
ReplyDeleteThese are very sophisticated country - such soothing colors too!
ReplyDeleteI love it! The first room is my favorite. :) Hope all is well in your world!
ReplyDeleteHealth and happiness,
Angela
beautiful and so refined...the kitchen looks so unique and glamorous...love all the hues of green in woodwork...lovely post, Susan!! xx meenal
ReplyDeleteOh what a beautiful images! I am country, we live in the country side in Belgium! And it is so inspirational to see nature around you!! I try the bring this country feeling into my own home!

I hope I am just this side of sophisticated country. Love the warmth of the rooms and the green in the one room is the green I painted my kitchen cupboards. I find these rooms to be classically country style in a verrrry good way,Kathysue
ReplyDeleteLOVE that kitchen!!

I feel a strong pull towards this type of country style! In an understated, eclectic kind of way!
ReplyDeleteThis home is wonderful! Unpretentious!
Uh.... this country I would absolutely do. Some country makes me cringe but this... this makes me wish I lived there.
ReplyDeleteThis is New England sophisticated country....love it!
ReplyDeleteYes! I love it! Even though I'm a city girl, my heart sings for some country. Something so soothing about the look...
ReplyDeletei am definitely a little bit country....or maybe a lot country to be exact
ReplyDeleteI'm a lot country...not so much in design...but if I wasn't before, I most certainly would be after those gorgeous pictures!!!
ReplyDeleteI love country where it fits and used wisely like in the examples you gave us.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in the country so it will always be fond in my decor heart! Love these images - v. inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI love this kind of country - not the other kind. We always called that sort of decorating "country with a k" (you know like, Kountry, misspelled like you are on "Hee Haw") and I'm not judging having grown up in NC and living in Georgia. But I like refined country decorating not cariacture country decorating. Am I making sense to anyone but me - ha!
ReplyDeleteBTW - when I worked in NY I lived in Larchmont, so I was a Westchester girl for a while :o)
i am ALL country, i just LOVE this design look! so peaceful and timeless.
ReplyDeleteGiven my 1920's farmhouse, all I'm missing are the chickens in the back yard!

Im not a fan of Country styled homes but I can appreciate any well designed room. The pretty tile on the foyer floor makes me wish i had a grand entrance into my home :)
ReplyDeleteYou bet your boots I do!! LOL......Love the rooms, all elegant but cozy and inviting all the same...thats what makes a "country" space different than a "city or town" space...the formality and level of how inviting the spaces are.....the country rooms say come on in and take a seat and let me cook up something good to eat...a vibe I crave more as I get older. Looooove that first room, the kitchen...just stunning and that last pic, the hallway and those killer floors...WOW!! And agreed that neck of the woods is dotted with tons of amazing country homes!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm a tad country...have always loved country music and for country interiors, the ones you've showcased are my speed!
ReplyDeleteLike Kathy said, it's funny that some people cringe at the word country, but I absolutely love a little mixed in with modern. I love all these pics.
ReplyDeleteMy friend who owns a vintage furniture store says I am Ralph Lauren urban country. I love that description!
ReplyDeleteI love that entryway... So pretty!
