This nautical map made from Spanish tiles in this Shelter Island, New York kitchen stopped me in my tracks. A tribute to the homeowner's love for the sea. If I'm ever lucky enough to own a beach house, I would love to recreate this entire room...hook, line and sink!

Love, love, love this and especially in a home that is not a primary residence (you can push boundaries a tad more.) I'm wondering if the cabintery is Viking's St. Charles? (That's what we have.) I love that the homeowners personalized their space - great space!
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, the shore....
Wow, what an unusual touch, I love it. Especially in such a contemporary space, its so unexpected. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWow who knew you could do that with tile?? The possibilities are endless!
ReplyDeleteomg...what a beautiful kitchen...such a unique use of tile...a piece of art...thanks for sharing, susan! xx meenal

PS- love the new pic! Or is it not new, and am I just oblivious?
Spectacular!! And the concept could work with any style kitchen!!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love! And the it's blue and white, my favorite. This is definitely going in the future beach house file!
ReplyDeleteThat tile wall is probably one of my favorite pictures that you have ever shared. I'm going to save it for future inspiration. Thank you....k
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I could shelter there!

I love when homeowners do original and interesting things in their personal spaces. There was a time there when kitchens started to look all the same. But this is great fun and lovely to look at too.
ReplyDeleteAnxiously awaiting your beach house do, btw ;)

The tiling seems so fitting for the location of the house, and I love that the rest of the kitchen is kept simple so as not to compete with the tile. Very, very lovely.
ReplyDeleteThat wall combined with the modern white kitchen and blue chairs is absolutely incredible! Great, great idea.
ReplyDeleteThat's major! Nx
ReplyDeleteyou're so right! It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I love how they did the vintage map look with the modern kitchen.....gives the place oomph!
ReplyDeleteWow, spectacular....Cannot believe that is tile! I love a more modern look for a beach house too. My husband and I always say we are going to buy a beach house in Australia (he's Australian) when the exchange rate gets back to a certain point....unfortunately, in the last several months the AUD is actually stronger than the dollar....darned our economy!
ReplyDeleteLove maps and the whole nautical vibe. Do I spy your kitchen faucet in this pic?!
ReplyDeletexo, e
