Please join me over at Peppermint Bliss, where soon to be new momma Bailey has asked me to design a nursery for her baby girl. A new baby can be such bliss...not to mention so sweet! Just like Bailey...she's minty fresh! Hope to see you there.

Decor Spotlight: Matthew Studios
A friend of mine, who has this beautiful yet undecorated foyer, recently inquired about a source for lighting that was a little different than the norm...I knew exactly what to tell her. Ever since I read about Matthew Studios in Lonny several months ago, I've had it bookmarked. Some of the most dramatic and glamorous light fixtures I've ever seen! I hope my friend takes this advice...and then sends me a photo too!

Closet Discovery
A recent Spring purge and cleaning of my closet led me to rediscover these lovely little Hermes Cartes A' Nouer, or Hermes Knotting Cards. Ironic, since I was actually searching for my own lightweight scarves... a great way to dress in these up coming transitional months. I don't know if would actually wear many of these suggested styles, but they are so pretty to look at. Do you tend to stick with the basics when it comes to scarves, or do you play it up, just like these cards?

Inspired By The Sea
My head is still on vacation time... as I upload all our photos, I can't help but to linger on the ones of the actual hotel itself. This shot, from the O'Brien Lighting Company's website, features the cool coral fixtures, seen all around the Spa at the Palm Beach Four Seasons. The whole hotel recently had a major design overhaul by Gluckstein Design. New to this Canadian based design firm, I took a peak at their site, and just like the hotel's new decor, there was a lot to love. Below are some images from a Gluckstein designed Palm Beach Penthouse, right on the water...I even spy a Paul Beliveau painting! (Funny how that happens, right?)

Seduced By Palm Beach
We just got back from a week in Palm Beach, Florida, where the weather was ideal and the food was amazing. It's so hard to get back into the swing of things here in chilly New York! I miss the hotel pool, the beach, and restaurants...not to mention daily housekeeping! Palm Beach style is still so fresh on my mind. A mix of mid century modern, old school Wasp prep, punchy colors, loads of faux bamboo and China Seas fabrics topped off with beach inspired accessories. These interiors by Meg Braff, epitomize everything I love in design in this region.

Sunday Style Obsession: Tough Luxe
I love the idea of adding just a little edge to an otherwise uptown lady like look.

Saturday Shop Talk
I'm toying with the idea of adding a "bestsellers" category to the website design of the store. Some of my favorite online shopping sites have this feature. Personally, the consumer in me loves to see what other people are buying, and the budding merchandiser in me likes to follow the trends. What do you think, is this something that interests you? And, if I had that category right now, these would be the items that I would show, as I literally can not keep these in stock!
from top to bottom: zig-zag scarves, brass wrap bracelet, brass horseshoe hook, numerology ring boxes, brass wall flower art, Shashi bracelets. All items available at zhush!

It's the end of another week...and, all I'm looking for this Friday is a soft spot to land!
Lots of R and R, hoping we can swing it! How about you?

State Of The Art
The artwork of Paul Beliveau inspires and amazes me for so many reasons. For starters, these are paintings, not photographs! That fact alone is enough to transfix me to these images. Another, is the subject matter. I often feel ambivalent about the future of books as we know them today. As an avid reader, I adore my new iPad for the convenience and even the environmental factor, but the luddite in me has a house chock full of book cases filled to the brim. And, there will always be a place in my heart for coffee table books. However, a recent road trip with my husband sparked an interesting conversation about the future of libraries. Will these be categorized one day, along with the likes of the horseshoe smithy or tinkerer? Will books be antiques, remembered only in beautiful paintings like these?

Give Me Shelter
This nautical map made from Spanish tiles in this Shelter Island, New York kitchen stopped me in my tracks. A tribute to the homeowner's love for the sea. If I'm ever lucky enough to own a beach house, I would love to recreate this entire room...hook, line and sink!
