These fun and bright garden chairs from Anthropologie took me right back to my childhood. Growing up, there was this amazing ice cream parlor, not too far from our house, known as Farrell's. Graduations, report cards, birthdays...we'd look for any excuse to celebrate at this wonderful old timey spot complete with singing waiters, a candy store and the world's largest ice cream sundaes! While it's no longer in the part of New Jersey that I remember as a child, I was able to locate a Farrell's out in California. They even had some vintage photos of the franchise, from back in the day. And, sure enough, I spotted those whimsical seats, albeit not in all these fun, "rainbow sprinkle" colors.

awww... I miss Farrell's!
Ohh I saw these recently in person at Anthropologie!! They really are something! Very cute! I wish I had a patio because these would be perfect for that summer day! =)

That is once thing I just loved when I came to the States as a student, the old fashioned ice cream parlor! Being on a budget, I still could splurge on my favorite flavors.
ReplyDeletecute!
ReplyDeleteThey are really lovely but chairs like that just burrow into my bones.
ReplyDeleteThe colorways available are as delicious as the I cream! The orange and turquoise are my favorites. Here's to lots of ice cream social this summer.
ReplyDeleteWe had a Farrell's!! I'll have to do some research and see if there is one still around where I grew up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder. ;)
OMG! I loved Farrell's. I have tried to describe its special appeal to my husband but he just doesn't get it, probably because he hasn't heard the sirens and seen the ice cream stretcher when some orders a "zoo".
ReplyDeleteThey are so much fun!
ReplyDeleteOh, these chairs are great, Sue! Such a cool find. Childhood memories are the best, especially when they involve ice cream!! xo
ReplyDeleteWe totally had a Farrell's too! So much fun to go to friends birthday parties there. I miss that my kids can't experience that fun and excitement over ice cream!!!

I miss those old fashioned ice cream parlors too! not many left near here...
ReplyDeleteSue you put a big smile on my face. I had completely forgotten about Farrells and I'm not sure how one could ever forget that place? My dad took his H.S. jazz band there once when I was in grade school, and it was one of those times as a kid, you thought life couldn't get any better than that. After that it was a favorite place to go and celebrate a birthday. Your photo was divine and so many memories flooded back. Oh, and the chairs...fabulous! Wow..that was fun!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great Monday.
Deb : )

ReplyDeleteAwww...we had a Farrell's in Dallas when I was growing up. They rang this big gong when it was your birthday. I recall many fun times there.

I adored Farrell's, my favorite was the parlors tin roof sundae ~ vanilla ice cream, carmel sauce and salted Spanish peanuts. I love making them at home. Apparently, the franchise has been purchased and they are trying to roll out stores across the country again, beginning in California. Do you remember those burgers?? Thanks for the memories!
ReplyDeleteI remember Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor!! It was in Oakland, CA where I grew up. My Aunt Dolly would take me there and we'd go by cab (she didn't drive). I had never been in a cab and it was such an adventure as a little girl. Thanks for bringing the memories back.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderfully nostalgic! I wish we had an Anthropologie near here.
