our ski house mud room |
Vermont might be the muddiest state with spring being it's muddiest season. Unlike here in New York, the mudroom in Vermont is the work horse of the home...not only storing everyone's bulky outerwear, but also preventing muddy boots and shoes from entering the house as well. I took these shots of our mud room during a rare uncluttered moment...we were closing up the place for the season. The last shot is a blurry "before" photo I took of the mudroom three years ago, right after we bought the place. As soon as I snapped the photo, I knew the ketchup red walls had to go, and that this Brunschwig & Fils "faux log cabin" paper would be perfect here. I even convinced my husband to let me cover up some of the wood paneling~ (ironically, with faux wood).
Love the wallpaper! It definitely adds to the charm of the entry. I would love to visit Vermont at some point (the company my husband works for is headquartered there). I grew up on Long Island, but never managed to get that far north.

ReplyDeleteIt looks so great! Up in Canada, our foyer/mud room definitely gets a work out with all the crazy weather we get haha Love the faux-wood in your space!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea that I am stealing, I have those and haven't figured out a way to use them...I've also seen them used as the backdrop for sconces..but I like this better for my little cabin in Montana! Glad you got up there to see it...is there still skiing going on?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely prefer the after photos! I love mudrooms, especially at ski cabins. Coming in from the cold, getting rid of those heavy boots. Getting ready to snuggle in front of the fire with some hot chocolate... such a happy warm place!
