Not exactly random...
more like iconic
but, we are at No. 5!
didn't really have a choice here...
Chanel No. 5, is still considered to be
one of the best selling perfumes in the world.
one of the best selling perfumes in the world.
According to legend, Madame Chanel, chose the fifth vial out of all the samples presented to her. Thus, the perfume got its name. It was released on the 5th day of the 5th month in 1921.

On another "perfume note", Neiman Marcus
has pulled through (Thank You Neiman Marcus!)
and sent a sample of the new Balenciaga fragrance,
the one I was so curious about in this post.
Upon first impression, it seems very pleasant.
However, I will not know for sure, until I wear the fragrance for a bit...
{look for the verdict on Monday!}
Happy Weekend!

Chanel n°5 looks beautiful on my vanity, no matter whether I wear it or not. It was a gift from a darling friend. It is a tad strong for my taste, but it's so pretty!

So interesting to read about how the name came about and the launch date. nice!
ReplyDeleteAs long as I have been wearing perfume I have worn No 5. In fact if I dont have perfume on my husband notices immediately. And if I try another perfume he gets FREAKED out! LOL!
ReplyDeleteMy parents gave it to me for my 16th birthday, and I have loved it ever since...all 10 years, that is. Ha!
ReplyDeleteMy mom has worn it since I was a little girl. Such a classic!
ReplyDeleteI need to start wearing perfume...I never wear it, but this makes me think I should get some!
ReplyDeleteChanel no. 5 is my classic all time favorite. I have worn it for years. Still as lovely today as it probably was in 1921. Kathysue

ReplyDeleteHi, I just wanted to come by and thank you for stopping by my blog for a visit. It was so nice to see you there, aren't those bottles amazing, I know kind of a weird thing to have an obsession about but we designer types see beauty in all kinds of things, Have a great weekend, hope to see you there again, kathysue
ReplyDeleteI've been on the hunt for a new fragrance. I've been rocking Chance for years and could use a change. I think Miss Dior Cherie is the winner right now.
ReplyDeleteI don't wear perfume that much anymore. Isn't that sad? I can't work with it on and rarely do I remember to put it on when we are going out. But you've encouraged me now to start again. Sorry I've been out of touch. It's been a little nutty at work. Busy, busy thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteAhhh. An icon indeed! I have a chanel #5 tropical tree outside (YLANG YLANG). When it blooms it smells wildly AND STRONGLY like the real thing!
